A schoolfriend's family had a gypsy Moth aeroplane and at age 18 Mole was taken for a flight. Raised in part on Biggles, the goggles, leather helmet and the Gosport speaking tube made a tremendous impact. So did the loop the loop that followed.
These rings are called "Red Mole on an Adventure" and "Red Mole escaping from care". The latter is poised on a compass rose facing South West, where Mole always preferred to live.
